What’s the most efficient way of getting traffic to your affiliate website?

It’s the magic combination of newsletters and affiliate marketing that gets you sales from advertising your affiliate products. Some affiliates are smart enough to build their mailing list by grabbing the email addresses of their site visitors. Regrettably, too many affiliate marketers send their interested prospects directly to the affiliate sales page.

Big mistake! If you fail to get your prospects’ name and email, you lose out big-time. The smart ones who do get the visitors email, can then send weekly or periodic newsletters to all the members of their mailing list.

Do you remember the days of the fax machine, ten to twenty years ago. Well that has been mostly replaced by email today. I mention this to emphasize the power of the email message.

And if you search on the Internet, you will also find thousands of email newsletters. But closer examination will tell you that most of them are not earning the money they should be making. On the other hand, most of the highly successful affiliates got rich from their newsletters. The most prosperous ezines email you at least weekly.

Your newsletter must be of good enough quality content to keep your subscribers coming back for more. You need this to build your list to at least 5,000 to 10,000 subscribers.

This caliber of newsletter can really boost your affiliate business. Here are some quick tips to help you operate a successful newsletter.

1. Your newsletter articles must be targeted to your niche (the general subject of your site)

If your niche is dog training, do not publish articles on web marketing, or golf or just any old thing. Simply, give the information that your users are looking for.

2. Write your own articles, if you can.

It is quite important that you build your reputation as an expert in your main subject matter. This way, you are building your site to become an authority site. This is when your audience will reward you the most, by buying from you, now that they learned to trust you.

So do you see the value of proving your own reputation and expertise. If you just copy and paste the work of others at your site, then it means that you are promoting other webmasters instead of yourself.

It’s fine to have the occasional guest author, but don’t overdo it. One consequence is that Google will not reward you with a page rank. He may punish you, as has happened to me, by lowering your page rank. This happened to me when I added too many guest articles compared to my own works.
But I can’t write! you yell out in deep frustration.

Well then consider hiring ghost writers. There are lots of writers who can provide their services and write the articles for you. So in this way they will do the writing work, but you will own the copyright to the articles.

Just make sure you hire someone whose first language is English. The going prices are very reasonable, as a qualified ghost writer has learned the quick ways to research the main keyword you want an article written around. I pay an average of $9.00 per article of 400 words.

3. Write Short Articles

An ideal length for articles is 400-700 words. If your article is more lengthy, you can split it into two or more. Short articles are easy to read and retain the attention of the reader. Blog posts can average from 200 to 500 words.

4. How often should you publish your newsletter?

You should publish your newsletter at least once every two weeks. Monthly newsletters are very rare. The most practical thing to do is publish a weekly newsletter, or twice a week at most.

Sadly, there are affiliate marketers who bug us with daily emails, mostly to promote a million different products. Many of them get good sales, yet they have so many UN-subscribes, that they work hard all the time to add new subscribers. Their emails are often one or two sentences full of spelling errors. I lose patience quickly with such abusers of my good nature, and I unsubscribe.

5. Focus on 1 or 2product offers in one month

To promote your selected affiliate product, consider writing 2 or 3 related articles, and publish them within a 10-day period. Focus on topics related to that particular product, and that way you keep the interest of your readers, and make some sales.

Again, I say, this policy is being abused too often by affiliate marketers who promote up to 10 products per month, usually all new ones.

6. Offer Incentives to new subscribers

Offer down-loadable incentives for your visitors when they subscribe to your newsletter. It has also become common practice to offer free downloads of ebooks or videos, etc every month or two.

It is so much expected that you may have a hard time adding newcomers to your newsletter, unless you promote your free gifts quite effectively.

So there it is. Those are my important points you should pay serious attention to… if you really want to succeed. Such is the power of newsletters and affiliate marketing.
