Part 1…
What makes affiliate programs so appealing to the newcomers who want to start an Internet business. Any business, online or offline, that doesn’t require any initial cash layout, is a win-win situation.
An affiliate program allows the affiliate marketer to act as a middleman between the consumer and the merchant, without having to add anything to the price of the product. The affiliate marketer earns a commission for every successful sale. With average percents of 50% on informational products, the affiliate can earn a substantial paycheck.
There are quite a few affiliate marketers who claim that they gave up their day jobs. What they are earning as affiliates is significantly higher than their former income.
They also enjoy the luxury of spending more time at home with their families, in addition to avoiding daily rush hour traffic.
To be successful as an online affiliate does not happen overnight. There’s a lot of work involved, and you could use some good advice to get you started.
Here are the first 5 of 10 tips that would definitely help you get rolling. Here is where you discover the relationship between affiliate and niche marketing.
1. The most crucial first step is to decide on a NICHE to concentrate on first. A niche being a particular area of interest that intrigue a lot of people. You can’t expect to suddenly start selling an mixed up assortment of products that target different markets. You’re much better off to concentrate on one specific field to begin with. Study it’s ins and outs, and understand it backwards and forward.
If you like pets for example, you need to choose a niche that is not too general, to avoid severe competition. You could choose dogs as an area of interest, research on the places where dog lovers gather online. Then look for an affiliate program that offers products which cater to their needs.
Once you’ve done this general research, you’ll discover the dogs is much too vast and you must select a more specific niche. A breed of dogs, for example.
2. Select a practical affiliate program. There are a few things to consider when choosing the most profitable affiliate program. First among these is the saleability-commission ratio. Usually, products which are difficult to sell pay a higher commission, whereas products that are easy to sell offer lower percentage cuts.
Try to find a good balance. Look for a product that is easy to sell and offers an attractive commission. Commissions on digital info products pay anywhere from 25% to 75%, with an average of 50%. Physical products pay anywhere from 5% to 20% with a realistic average of 10 to 12%.
Additionally, you need to evaluate the reliability of the affiliate program. Do they actually pay regularly and on time? Are their products have great value? One place to ask questions of this nature is the forums dealing in affiliate marketing.
3. Build a worthwhile and compelling web site, one that is focused and has many pages of useful content. You actually can get away with affiliate marketing by not having a web site. But believe me, the more successful affiliates all have web sites and blogs.
Once you have built up a site with valuable content, you will start selling the affiliate products from your site. But if your site does not attract that many visitors, sales conversion will prove unproductive. It’s why you must create a site that focuses on the area of interest, the niche, you have chosen. Load it up with informative content that people will come to your site to read.
Reminds me of that famous line from the movie ‘Field of Dreams’, “build it and they will come.” Well, in the online world there is no such thing as window shopping. Not with millions of web sites, and more going online every day. If you want the visitors to come to your field of dreams, give them something superior.
4. Advertise your web site.
Before your site becomes a serious attraction, you need other ways to promote your affiliate products. Start by actively marketing your site. People don’t know about your site, so you have to advertise it in different ways. Submit it to search engines, exchange links with well-visited sites, and promote it in online communities. You have to spread the word that your site exists, and that it’s worth while visiting.
5. Build a list.
It’s great that you’re starting to get some visitors, but it’s not enough. You need a way to keep him. A visitor rarely buys from someone they don’t know. And there’s no telling when he’ll decide to buy from you. So to keep him around get him to add his name to your list. Create a free service that would make them keep in touch. Your best bet is to start a newsletter. Remember, a lost visitor is most likely lost forever.
Take a look at this niche product, and decide for yourself if it couldn’t be very useful to you. Killer Niche Marketing
